Thanks Katherine!

During our super-long engagement, I developed a pretty hardcore wedding blog addiction. I used to check brooklyn bride, style me pretty, a practical wedding, and weddingbee at least every day (and several other bridal blogs more sporadically). My absolute favorite and most inspiring blog, though, was the inspiration-board-a-day extravaganza, snippet & ink.

So, I was incredibly honored when Katherine of Snippet & Ink asked to include our little soiree as one of her "featured weddings". Our post went up over the weekend, and I'm so touched by all of the wonderful comments readers have left. So, thank you so much for the shout-out, Katherine, your site is seriously one of the best out there.

P.S. - Since getting married I've gone cold-turkey on my wedding blog addiction.....almost. And I promise to finish up the last detail post before the next century. Work has been crazy and I'm a pretty terrible blogger.

I am a giant snippet and ink fan and just saw your wedding on there today....love it! So simple and fun and beautiful! Looks like it was a special day :)

I just got married myself at the end of July, but I am still loving snippet and ink. I can't seem to break my addiction!

Hi, I found you on Snippet & Ink too! I can't get over your beautiful invitations. I'm getting married in April, and my fiance and I are both graphic designers. Working on your own design projects is always the hardest but I think it's so cool that the two of you collaborated on them. I posted them up on my blog mint, hope you'll stop by and check it out!

I got married in March, still check Snippet and Ink...so sad. But I just wanted to give you such mad props for making your wedding so special and personal. You were able to make such a fabulous wedding, without going overboard and forgetting that a wedding, in the end, should be about love and fun. You have so many good ideas. I can't wait to use them when helping friends plan weddings! Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in your marriage! Being married to a sweetheart is the BEST!

thanks so much for the kind words, everyone, and for taking the time to check out our little blog!

ellie - i love your blog. i've actually seen it before and you've reminded me to start reading it more regularly:)

pauline - for the calligraphy, i just looked at the work of a lot of professional calligraphers and experimented with ink and a quill pen on my own until i developed a style that i liked. i'm really interested in typography, though, and have always played around with handwritten type for my illustration work so i think that helped. i tried to give a few other tips in the comment section of this post:

Deanna, I just saw your wedding on snippet and ink and it looked so spectacular. Great work! I was wondering if you could tell me the designer of your wedding dress. I've been looking for something in a '40s vein and haven't found much luck. Congrats to both of you!

meg - you're so awesome! i love your blog. thanks so much for posting about us.

kristen -thanks so much! the designer was eva haynal forsyth. it was the "connie" from the 2004 collection (it was an older sample dress i found at a salon in philly). and we altered it quite a bit so it looks a little different now than it originally did. her site only shows dresses through 2004 so i'm not sure if she's still designing (and i kind of don't care for a lot of her other ones). but, good luck with your dress search. i love 1940s style dresses - as you can tell!

Deanna, I loved your wedding pictures. I am also getting married in the lititz/lancaster area. Can you tell me where you rented your chairs? This is one thing that I can't seem to find "on the cheap."
Thanks!

hi christina:
there isn't a ton of selection locally, but we ended up finding the cheapest deal at the rental department at Longeneckers in Manheim (it's a hardware store). i think they were around $2.45/chair (still expensive, but cheaper than most of the other places we looked). plus they were real wood, not polyurethane. good luck!
